The NGO community, including a representative of World Goodwill, met at the UN on 13 August to discuss both the process and the outcome of working on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
The meeting focused on the nature and quality of civil society advocacy and the mechanisms needed to support the new goals.
Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) were unanimous in their recognition and appreciation of the inclusiveness of the process. Although great strides were made in reaching out to the youth, there was concern that more work was needed to more fully engage and mobilize young people.
“Project Everyone” was introduced. This is an initiative with the “simple but mighty ambition to share the global goals with 7 billion people in 7 days.” The launch week is 26 September through 2 October.. “This is a mission for humanity, unified goals that resonate with everyone, everywhere.” http://www.project-everyone.org
